Reverend Stavius L. Powell, BA, M. Div

Reverend

Born in Dallas, Texas to the proud parents of the late Gary Powell and Frances Tutt Powell. His grandmother, Gladys Miller, reared Reverend Powell; she introduced him to her Christian faith during his youth. Through her example and constant devotion, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and LORD.

Eventually, he moved from Texas to California.  While living in California, Reverend Powell acknowledged his calling to the gospel ministry under the tutelage of the late Reverend Claybon Lea. Reverend Lea believed in education and encouraged Reverend Powell to pursue a higher education. Reverend Powell graduated from Edward Waters College with a Bachelors of Arts in Religion and Philosophy. Immediately following, he attended the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC); Morehouse School of Religion, in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated with a Master of Divinity.

Reverend Powell was blessed to marry his college sweetheart, Markeisha Powell, after graduating from seminary and through their union, they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Tatyiana and Tiffany and an enthusiastic son, Tyson.

Currently, Reverend Powell serves as a Chaplain with Haven Hospice and is an associate minister at the Greater Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church (Reverend Dr. Kelly E. Brown Jr., Pastor). Reverend Powell is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated and is an active member of the local graduate chapter. Reverend Powell enjoys spending time with family, playing golf and cycling.  Reverend Powell served as Pastor of the Philippi Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida for six years.
